Hello awesome people and happy friday! Well, it has been awhile since the last check in, but I only like to write about things that have true meaning to my life, and today is one of those days. My fun friend, Samaya , (if you haven't read her blog yet, where have you been!!!) did a post the other day that really resonated with me and made me want to talk about it as well. In her post, she talked about how/why we bash people for being creative and putting themselves out there when, instead, we should be praising them for doing something cool and different. I really love this message because honestly life IS short, why spend time being negative and judging others when you could be taking all that energy and supporting them. Like Samaya talks about in her post, I too, was always the one taking pictures of whatever I was doing, and often times people wouldn't respond to this with a supportive manner, and rather used it as an opportunity to bash me for being "such a girl and taking pictures". This did make me self conscious for awhile, and instead of embracing my creative side, I would try to hide the fact that I liked to take pictures. Only in the past year did I learn to own it and say, "yep I am taking a picture and editing it because I thats what I like to do!" My point in mentioning this is not to say, "go me", but rather to say," thats CRAZY that it took so long to fully own it". So instead of taking years to finally own your creative side, or your difference that you feel is an insecurity, it should be now, and your people should help you to own it too!
As a new school year approaches for many, or the start of a new season for others, take this fresh start as an opportunity to challenge yourself to support others rather than tearing them down. The world could surely use a little extra love right now and let me tell ya, a little love goes a long way!!
It's the weekend. Strut your stuff. Post the picture. Eat the pizza. Show some love.
Till next time,
