Okay, so clearly I totally didn't keep up with the blog at all while abroad as expected.... but what can you do, life doesn't always go as planned! Anyway, today I had a boost of energy and I wanted to share something that I have been up to of late. After 6 weeks of all the pasta and bread I was ready for a good plate of greens and a nice little detox. This past week has been totally dedicated to getting back into the swing of things; catching up on sleep, eating lots of greens, exercising, and just relaxing. For so many weeks I was on the go, go, go and now, having time to finally rest, I am noticing just how much I needed a little down time. Which leads me to the focus of this post (drumroll......) Self health.
I thought this was something fun to share as I feel like even though we are in the thick of summer with all of this extra time on our hands, we fail to remember just how important it is to take care of our bodies. Self health is such a topic of trend currently and honestly I love it. There are so many health gurus all over Instagram and Twitter and even Facebook, that I feel like I am constantly being inspired to improve my self health. One thing that I find so awesome in the Instagram health community is how much channeling confidence is emphasized. Often times I think that people try to adapt this "plant- based living" lifestyle in an effort to look like the people they see on Instagram or the models they see in magazines, but what so many people are trying to convey now, is the idea of loving our differences and embracing who we are AND letting the world know it. When we channel this amazing confidence from within, we create this energy which is contagious and pushes others to do the same. I can confidently say (no pun intended) that when you think you are the sh** others will believe it too!
When we have this awesome belief in ourselves, it pushes us to want to take care of our awesome bodies as well. You were only given one body so why not treat it like a king or queen ...#bodyisatemple lol. But seriously, your body craves exercise and healthy foods so why not give it what it wants right? Well that is all true, but easier said then done. If you are wanting to kick start some awesome self health, I would recommend implementing slowly rather than going 0-100. Whether this is getting up earlier to go for a long walk or doing some yoga, or maybe it is ditching that double mocha extra whip in the morning and having a smoothie instead. But as you start to gradually implement these things in to your life, you will start to notice a change in your energy levels and your overall health. What I have loved of late is starting my morning early with a liter of lemon water and curling up on the porch reading a good book. I find that when I don't check my phone immediately after waking up, I end up not checking it as much throughout the day, which I have to say, limiting your screen time actually helps in more aspects of your life than you would think. I stumbled upon this picture on pinterest the other day and it actually has a lot of good ideas to kick start this healthy lifestyle (click on the list below and it will enlarge). Living a healthy lifestyle doesn't always refer to just eating right and exercising, it can be as simple as showing gratitude or showing some love to others. Some other small things you can do to help your body might be going to bed a little bit earlier, or drinking more water. A tip to help drink more water: add some lemon or lime to your water...it makes it interesting and more refreshing than just plain water.
Anywhooo, in all of the healthy and positive vibes I have been channeling over the last few days I have pictured some of my favorite meals I have made! I absolutely love eating and making acai bowls so most of these pictures are some of my favorite bowls!
Well, it's the weekend, so go throw on your favorite outfit and strut your stuff! Hope you enjoyed this post and happy weekending!
Till next time,
